I’m constantly talking about how I am my own greatest fan. And what I mean by that is that I am going to be the person to hype myself up the most and be proudest of myself #eldestdaughter
Nobody is going to celebrate you the way you can celebrate yourself.
Here’s what I mean. The people in your life love you, sure. But they’re not in your head when you push through a hard set. They’re not there when you show up on the day you really didn’t want to. They don’t know that you finally hit a weight you’ve been working toward for two months, or that you made it to the gym three times this week when last month you couldn’t manage one. They don’t have the full picture. You do.
Which means you are the most qualified person on the planet to be your own biggest fan.
And a lot of people are really, really bad at this.
We’re pretty good at cataloging what we haven’t done yet. The weight we haven’t lifted, the consistency we haven’t nailed, the progress that feels too slow. We notice all of that immediately. But the small wins? Those get brushed off constantly. “It’s not a big deal.” “Other people do way more than this.” “I should be further along by now.”
That stuff adds up. And it quietly makes everything harder.
When you root for yourself, genuinely, for the big things *and* the small ones, something shifts. Not in a cheesy way. In a practical way. You start to notice what’s working. You build actual evidence that you’re capable of doing things. You stop waiting for someone else to validate the effort you’re putting in, because you’re already doing it for yourself.
So here’s what I want you to try.
The next time you do something worth being proud of, even if it feels small, *especially* if it feels small, just acknowledge it. Out loud if you’re feeling bold. In your head if you’re not. “I did that. That was hard and I did it anyway.” or “I’m proud of myself for doing this”
I always post on my Instagram stories after my dance class on Sundays that I’m proud of myself for going, even when I get my shit kicked in.
Start hyping yourself up baby. You’ve earned it. It honestly makes life better.
